Laue D=89 km Center: 28¡N, 263¡E Count Area: 1076 km^2 Observed Density (@ 1km): 31600 ± 5500 Age: 4.0 ± 0.1 (+sec: 4.0) Stoffler epoch: Pre-Nectarian Fit Density (@ 1km): 42200 ± 9400 PF fit: good?, very few bins fit, small area (~1000 km2), many secondaries Age calculation notes: best fit is anchored at small D (SM). Poor fit to both small and large D (shallow) - suggest fitting to 4 smallest bins - this is a "right ear" crater - also note that last time a layered terrain was used and improved the fit; adding OSs does not change fit or age. Forcing fit through small points (HN2) only slightly improves fit and slightly changes age (MRK). USGS geology: Crater material mapped as Pre-Nectarian. Floor material mapped as fill with Imbrian age (possibly ejecta) - correlates best with area counted. Large fresher crater in upper center may be Orientale secondary. Wilhelms: Crater is Pre-Nectarian. Part of floor may be Imbrian fill - possibly Imbrium ejecta(?). Floor material: Best guess is not original (at least in area counted). Flat floor, material has sharp contact with wall and looks embayed, small central peak. Also surrounded by other filled craters. Material looks relatively fresh. Hard? Geology Observations: Small areas of ejecta blanket possibly visible near rim. Rim is eroded. Small central peak, does not look very eroded. Most of floor is flat, some hummocky areas (avoided) that may be original floor or wall collapses. Several secondary chains/clusters with various sized craters (up to ~ 4 km) of various degradation states. SFD Observations: Smallest craters < ~ 1.2 m dominated by class 3 (and 4), Larger craters dominated by class 3 (and 2). Has steep SFD for small craters (< ~ 1.5 km). Becomes shallow for larger craters. Shallow "right ear" (more than one crater). Slope(Diff)=4.4 ± 0.6. Discussion notes: small area and fair number of secondaries, not a good case for PF comparison and age Notes from Brian's adjustment: - Counting boundary: Consider removing central peak and below? Some faint craters were missed. - Secondaries: Add some clusters and remove others. - Removal of large, buried craters: Looks OK. - Size adjustment of large craters: Largest crater marked too big. - Explaining unusual cases: Laue marked in red with comment "wide-v". - Future actions: - Completed actions: Removed central peak and below area from markings (Michelle) Marked faint craters (BLE). Cluster changes (BLE). Fixed largest crater size (BLE). Changed a few classifications (MRK). Last Edited by MRK 12/13/2012
